Sound Breakers: Delta Palms

5 Sep

Delta PalmsAccompanying the clement temperatures July has brought us so far is the lo-fi indie, fuzz pop of one man DIY outfit Delta Palms aka Reece Clayton. Originating from Blackpool but now residing in Manchester, he began making his own music just last year and is inspired to create feel-good tracks with a nostalgic edge, consisting of vibrant melodies, energetic rhythms and poetic lyrics, all topped off with Reece’s gruff and recklessly charming vocals.

Boasting airplay on local radio stations including BBC Introducing Manchester and Salford City Radio, as well as online station XRP Radio, plus nods on tastemaker blogs, it seems that things are heating up rapidly in the realms of Delta Palms and it won’t be long before more are introduced to his splendidly shambolic sounds.

Pertinently described as “the missing link between surf and Britpop”, his songwriting really does capture effortless guitar pop sensibility, before it is duly encrusted with a gritty and raw, garage essence. With plans to release more singles over the summer, following up with an EP later on in the year, I think Delta Palms is unquestionably worthy of being placed on your new music radar.
