Sound Breakers: Bathymetry

5 Sep

BathymetryBathymetry currently straddle the North West with 3 members, Ariel, Dave and Emily, based between Manchester and Liverpool. Having just released their debut self-titled album at the beginning of June, we thought it was high time you were introduced to their individual blend of folk and lo-fi indie.

After finding each other through a series of online ‘wanted’ ads back in 2012 (Ariel is originally from America, Dave from Carlisle and Emily from Warrington), they’ve gone onto attain undivided appreciation from radio, podcasts and tastemaker blogs such as Fresh On The Net, all keen to sing their praises. Tracing the footsteps of fellow North West bands Elbow and I Am Kloot, their first album is released through Ugly Man Records, however Bathymetry are most certainly carving their own unique path.

Earlier this year the band opened for both The Jesus & Mary Chain and Wire, as well as putting in an appearance at Liverpool Sound City. You can catch them live this Thursday when they play Manchester’s Kraak Gallery. Or for a treat encompassing all the senses, head to Fell Foot Sound festival this July, held in blissful woodland settings guaranteed to complement their sound and conjure a performance to remember.
